It's taken Sharon a while...

...but I can finally come to terms with the devastating final score of Ghana vs Brazil last Tuesday. The Black Stars really shone on the pitch, but somehow none of their numerous but very real chances ever hit the back of the net. The team must be crying in their fufu...
Meanwhile, how can the Brazilians look any Ghanaian in the eye with that shocking second offside 'goal'? (if you ask me all the goals were offside, and the ref was extremely harsh against the Black Stars giving out yellow cards like they were confetti...)
Still, I am proud of the entertaining game that the Ghanaians delivered. Dion, Tyrell, Lewis and I watched the match in Cafe Moskau, which is near Alexanderplatz in the former East side of Berlin. Alex from the US and Kristian from Germany were with us too (...thanks for your support guys!) There must have been over 200 Ghanaians in the place, not including all those German Ghanaian supporters and the handful of Brazilian supporters (who did not dare to cheer following any of the goals). The atmosphere was electric. Anyone who wasn't wearing a Ghanaian flag style dress or top, or team football shirt must have felt positively underdressed. There was drumming, singing and dancing. In a way, it's good Ghana didn't score - the way the crowd cheered at the near chances, we may well have all lost our hearing had the Black Stars put one past the Brazilian goalie. The roof very literally may have come down.
At the end, red, yellow and green balloons were released from the ceiling, which was great and very effective - that is until Lewis lost it and screamed until we went outside. I now know that Lewis' fear of balloons is real, not imaginary!
All in all a very entertaining afternoon.
All I can say is, y'all better watch out for Ghana in South African 2010!

Sharon is so proud of Ghana

For those of you who watched the game against USA yesterday - what did you think? I enjoyed it so much! I watched it sitting in a pub in Berlin with one fellow Ghanaian, a few Germans and a group of students from the US. It was great. Somehow though I felt I was the only one to catch the spirit...I was wearing my Ghana top and jumped and ran around everytime something worth celebrating happened. But people seemed to understand and forgive me for my unconventional behaviour.
I have heard that there is a place in Berlin (Cafe Moscow?) where I can watch the next game (Ghana vs Brazil) which will be full of rowdy Ghanaians - I'm there.
I am a little sad however that the Ghana team didn't make it to the top of the group - if it had, the next match would be against Australia (which we would have walked of course) and then the predicted Ghana-Brazil World Cup final could still have taken place.
Oh well - the showdown has to take place next Tuesday instead. I hope the Brazilians have their tissues ready....

Were they playing for ISRAEL? it was hurted us!!!" I'd forgotten all about that. Does anyone know why a Ghanaian team player was displaying the Israeli flag on a Ghanaian victory against the Czech Republic?

So there is absolutely no misunderstanding...

Lewis has this strange obsession with Brazil, Tyrell is supporting Germany and Dion thinks Japan is the team...but I want you all to know that Ghana is where it's at. Check out my top...you know it makes sense.

Honestly...

...wasn't that the most beautiful thing you ever saw?
Ghana, first time in the World Cup ever, winning 2-0 against the Czech Republic...the what republic? What brilliant goals. Easily could have been 4 or 5-0 too.
I'm celebrating, I'm telling ya.
Dion says the Czech goalie is the best in the world...is that right?
I predict a Ghana - Brazil final. And it will be tough. There will be much gnashing of teeth.
But in the end, Ghana will go for Gold!

We had to move to a new blog website, so decided to rename it and put everything on one site - under one handy webaddress: http://letydiboys.blogspot.com

Letydiboys are: Lewis, Tyrell, and Dion. But the little s on the end - that could be me couldn't it?

It will take some time to copy all the content over from the old sites and backdate the entries. But I hope to keep adding new stuff at the same time, so it will all be up-to-date, full of gossip and of course (ahem) very educational.

Dion in Berlin

This is me in Berlin - I am standing at Alexanderplatz next to the famous Fernsehturm - Television Tower.

You can't really tell from the photo, but for the World Cup, the dome has been especially decorated to look like a football.

My next school trip sounds good and it will be the second trip where I stay overnight. I will be going in mid June.

I have been to the Doctor because I have been wheezing and coughing a lot. I just found out that I have a whole lot of food intolorances to my favourite foods - no more milk or milk products, wheat, fruit and honey for me...and apparently I can't be around housedust or duck feathers either!

It could be worse though - I don't mind drinking goats milk and soya milk and thank goodness I am only allergic to the feathers of the duck and not the meat! Phew...I can still eat roast duck noodle soup - let's go to China China next time I'm in Brighton to celebrate!

Tyrell fell into the pond yesterday

Yesterday I fell in the school's pond. It went over half way of my body and I tried to get out by grabbing the grass and then I said 'Hilfe' (which means help!) and one of the children helped me get out of the pond.

Tyrell, Lewis and my mum have now moved to Berlin too.
It was good to see them again.

They picked me up from school last Friday and my new classmates met them.

Well my real name is actually Tyrell - I am moving to Germany soon. To Berlin. And I feel quite happy about it. When I get there I will get a dog!

My first day at Nelson Mandela Schule by Dion

My first day at school was great.
There are 20 children in my class and we don't get any homework, because school is from 8am until 4pm - so we do all the work in school.
I had a good time, I played football in the playground and the best bit, I'll be going on a school trip.

We are going to stay in a youth hostel for two days. It's very expensive, but I'm going (thanks Oma Helga!) and I'm really looking forward to it.
